Yes there is such a thing as a low-fat cheese steak and this one packs a lot of flavor and can satisfy me when i want a cheese steak. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
1 whole grain baton (Publix makes a perfect 5 grain baton when you can find it) or 2 whole grain hoagie rolls
8 oz roast beef
2 green peppers cored and cut into 2 inch strips
8 oz mushrooms sliced
1 medium onion sliced pole to pole
4 slices of no fat cheese
1/4 cup low sodium beef or chicken broth
1 tsp oil
Optional
Sliced jalapenos
2 slices of turkey bacon browned
Tomato slices
Over medium high heat, cook the mushrooms in the tsp of oil until they start to turn brown and shrink. Add the onions, green peppers and broth. Cook over high heat for about 5 minute until the veggies soften and the broth starts to evaporate.
While veggies are cooking prepare the bread. If it's a crusty bread where the crust will hold it's shape scoop out some of the bread using your fingers. This will hold the filling better and cut down on some carbs. You can toast them and add some low fat mayo if you want.
When veggies are cooked roughly chop the beef and add it to the mix. When the beef is warm load it in the buns, top with cheese of your choice and serve.

Salmon is the read meat of fish. It's not steak but it taste great, is good for your heart and low in fat. This recipe is so simple that anyone can do it and you can have a delicious dinner in under 20 minutes. Fancy French restaurants often serve poached salmon and they wish it was as good as this.

Additional Tips
No fat pepper jack is one of my favorites but no fat American slices is more Philly like. Serve this with raw crunchy vegetables and some no fat dip.
