Pack Snacks For Healthy Man's Diet PlanGive a new meaning to the question, "Is that a banana in your pants or are you just glad to see me?" by saying, "Yes, it is a banana and I'm loaded with good things to eat". Wink

When you're out and about it's not always easy to find healthy food that fits into a man's low fat diet plan and if it's not easy, a fat guy like me won't bother with it and will end up eating fast food.  I've learned to take healthy snacks with me that fit into my diet plan instead of being at the mercy of what's available around the town.

My lovely wife was the one that actually taught me that carrying snacks was often better and easier than trying to find something on the road.  I remember her packing baggies of freshly cut vegetables for a trip to the airport.  Standing in that long security line we were eating these veggies with the low-fat dip she packed instead of spending $6.00 on the worst hot dog known to man that I would have been tasting for the next 8 hours or so.

Since we're guys we always have pockets in our clothing.  Tuck an apple into your coat pocket.  Put a protein bar in your back pocket.  Slip a wrap into your jacket.  if your pockets are big enough then filled a backpack with a few healthy goodies.

Recently I met another dad that just happens to have kids my daughter's age at the local state fair.  Of course almost everything here is deep fried, shoved on a stick and outrageously priced.  Since we were going to be there for about 7 hours I decided to carry my backpack with a change of clothes for my daughter and hour jackets but also threw in a couple bottles of water, a few pieces of fruit and a wrap that I made with roast beef and low-fat cheese.  After a couple of hours I chopped down on that wrap and my daughter ate an apple.  We need to leave the rides to go find food, we saved a bit of money and quite frankly, we just felt better than if we started the day with funnel cakes and deep fried cheese on a stick.

Sure, around 7:00 when by buddy and the kids were ready for dinner we sat down and I got a hot dog for my daughter and a gyro for me but I wasn't that hungry and I only needed my sandwich instead of an order of cheese fries, a grilled sausage and some dessert to top of my gyro.  I saved money and a boatload of fat and calories.

So when you're going someplace that may not have the best food choices, take something with you that will help you stay on your diet plan.  It doesn't have to be all the food that you need to eat while out but grabbing an apple, pear or a couple of bananas as an appetizer may help you cut down on the amount of fat and calories that you're going to digest as well as saving you a few bucks.
